Northwood Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company is comprised of a group of volunteers dedicated to providing rescue and fire service to Northwood Iowa and the surrounding communities. The NVFC was established in 1883 by 9 charter members. The Company was established, built and maintained over the last 133 years on 100% donations from local residents and businesses. The NVFC and the community take great pride in being the only volunteer fire and rescue company in the entire state of Iowa that operates completely off of donations. By operating strictly from donations, local residents and businesses are sheltered from fire and rescue yearly taxation which, in some cases, may cause the individual taxpayer to pay higher yearly taxes. |
